Hi, I'm Sky Barsch. Thanks for stopping by my site. I live in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, 15 miles from the Canadian border. I grew up in Meriden, Conn., and moved to Vermont in 1999 to attend Castleton State College. I hold a B.A. and an A.S. in Communication from Castleton. My bachelor's includes a concentration in journalism and a minor in women's studies. I am the owner and publisher of Vermont Sports magazine I am the projects editor at Vermont Life magazine. I contribute writing and multimedia work to these and numerous other publications, most recently the Country Walkers Adventure Travel Blog. I have worked for or am working for Subaru Drive Magazine, Cleveland Magazine, Norwich University, Sugarbush Resort Magazine, E/The Environmental Magazine, and The New York Times. I understand Macs, PCs, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In), search engine optimization, blogs, WordPress, Dreamweaver, Pagemaker, Constant Contact, Topica, Photoshop, Picasa, Google applications, Quickbooks ... there are few computer programs I am not comfortable with. I like to keep busy. Two years ago, I worked as a speech-language pathology assistant in Orleans Elementary School. I appeared on CBC's "The National" with Peter Mansbridge during the 2008 presidential election. I make beer, cook a lot, garden and can, sew, mountain bike, hike, horseback ride, and I have completed the Annapurna Base Camp trek in the Nepal Himalaya (61 miles and over 20,000 feet of elevation gain!). I'm also proud to say I have completed the Craftsbury 25K ski marathon--twice. Just don't ask my time. I also love learning Italian. I enjoy travel writing, as well as writing about people, food, culture, the outdoors and farming. My philosophy is the world is small ... if you just start talking to strangers. I live with my husband, Josh Gleiner, and our dogs, Mesa (Brittany), Siena (German Short-Hair Pointer), cat, Shoefly (long-haired wildebeest), and laying hens, Mensch and Road Runner. If you are seeking a communications professional for a short- or long-term project, please feel free to get in touch with me at mail at skybarsch.com. HOME :: CONTACT :: RECENT WORK |
